Medigap Plan N
Medicare Supplement Insurance plans, also known as Medigap plans, help pay the out-of-pocket costs that remain after Original Medicare plans pay their approved portion of your health care costs. There are currently ten plans available, each offering a specific arrangement of valuable benefits. There are several new plans that were introduced by the Medicare Modernization Act, one of them being Medigap Plan N. This is what you can expect from Medigap Plan N.
Medigap Plan N Benefits
Medigap Plan N is a newer plan that was created for consumers who prefer lower premiums in exchange for copayments and Part B deductible payments. With Plan N, you will need to pay up to $20 for office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits. If you are admitted to the hospital, these costs are waived. These are the other benefits featured in Medigap Plan N:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs for up to 365 days after your Medicare benefits run out.
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part B coinsurance and copayments
- Blood to be used in a medical procedure, up to 3 pints.
- Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments
- Skilled Nursing Facility Care
- Foreign travel health emergency costs up to specified plan limit
As mentioned previously, Part B deductibles are not covered by this plan. Neither are Part B excess charges. Therefore, you will be required to pay these costs out-of-pocket if they arise.
Medigap Plan N Costs
Medigap Plan N has lower premium costs because you are still required to pay a set amount for office visits and trips to the emergency room. Medigap plan costs are not standardized, but as a general estimate, you can expect your Plan N policy to cost $100-$200. Prices vary depending on the applicant’s age, location, and health status.
