Medigap Plan C
Medicare Supplement Insurance plans, also known as Medigap plans, help pay the out-of-pocket costs that remain after Original Medicare plans pay their approved portion of your health care costs. There are currently ten plans available, each offering a specific arrangement of useful benefits. Here is what you can expect to receive with Medigap Plan C, one of the most comprehensive plans available.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan C
Medigap Plan C offers a vast assortment of benefits to Medicare beneficiaries, making it a great option for individuals who use their benefits frequently. Here are the costs that will be covered by Medigap Plan C:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs for up to 365 days after your Medicare benefits run out.
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part B coinsurance and copayments
- Medicare Part B deductible
- Blood to be used in a medical procedure, up to 3 pints.
- Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments
- Skilled Nursing Facility Care
- Foreign travel health emergency costs up to 80%
The only thing that separates Plan C from the most comprehensive plan, Plan F, is that Plan C does not cover Medicare Part B excess charges. These are charges that doctors and hospitals may charge in excess of the Medicare approved amount. If your healthcare provider includes such charges on your bill, you will be responsible for paying them yourself.
Medigap Plan C Costs
Medigap plans are privately serviced by independent insurance agencies, therefore there is no standardization for monthly premium costs. Though, you should expect your Medigap coverage to cost somewhere between $150 and $300. While this may seem high, considering the costs covered by Plan C you could save money by purchasing the plan.
