

Part B
Medicare Part B is one-half of Original Medicare; the other half is Medicare Part A. Part B is considered the medical insurance of Original Medicare as it covers outpatient services.
Coverage
Other than outpatient services, Part B also covers:
- Durable medical equipment
- Provider services
- Preventive services
- Home health services
- Ambulance services
- X-rays and lab tests
- Certain prescriptions
- Chiropractic care
Eligibility and Costs
To be eligible for Part B, you must:
- Be 65 or older
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of five years or more
If you are currently receiving Social Security benefits, you will automatically be enrolled in Original Medicare.
The standard monthly Part B premium is $148.50, but it can vary depending on your income. The current annual deductible for Part B is $203.
